Monteruscello Fest, 20 Thousand Euro Donated To Telethon For Research On Diseases Without Diagnosis

On the 12th of September, the 1st edition of Monteruscello Fest was held.  A sold out charity event featuring chefs, pizza makers and other artisans in the enogastronamic that raised 20 thousand Euro for Telethon.  

This was announced by the organizers of the event, Daniele and Simone Testa and Giovanni Tammaro who wanted to promote the initiative, together with the Municipality of Pozzuoli, to make a contribution to the research program on Diseases Without  Diagnosis implemented by the Tigem of Pozzuoli and also to enhance the Monteruscello district.

"We thank - they said - the many people who participating in the event made a donation to Telethon and the many artists and chefs who did not lack their support for the initiative. We apologize to the many local operators, restaurateurs, entrepreneurs of the food, pastry chefs, which we have not been able to involve this year. We consider this first edition a test, but we are sure that next year by spreading the initiative over two days we will be able to include many important and top-level realities that are active in Pozzuoli and in the 'Phlegraean area ".

Over a month has passed, but I remember that appetizer as if the chef served it to me five minutes ago.   Il mare .  The sea.  that's the reason for the season.  The focus for  Chef Pasquale Palamaro,  executive chef of Hotel Regina Isabella - home to the Michelin starred  Indaco Restaurant  located on the island of Ischia.  The restaurant boasts a dream location, hugging the sea, so it seemed only logical the the specialties that left Palamaro's kitchen and arrived at my  table for two  reminded me of the sea...of il mare. Like this appetizer... At first glance?  Seems like a spiny sea urchin.  An  aculei di mare   sitting  quietly on top of a mashed foam. Instead... Instead... It's a amberjack fish breaded  with black squid ink capellini pasta. In its heart?  Salty lemon.   Sprinkled on top?  Powdered roe aka  bottarga. Amazing!

Scarpetta. ..the word alone makes one's taste buds jump for joy.  Scarpetta, little shoe, is an act of love at the end of a meal. A show of respect and admiration performedw ith a piece of great bread and the remnants of a fantastic sauce left on the plate at the end a a course. That is the spirit behind Franco Pepe' s latest pizza - La Scarpetta.   Pepe's soft pizza dough paired with an amazing ragu tomato sauce.  For the sauce, Pepe chose three tomato varieties and slow cooked them so that they fused together to make an incredible tomato sauce. This sauce is not cooked in the oven with the pizza dough, but added on top afterwards.  Then a couple of shavings of Grana Padano cheese (aged 12 and 24 months) Just one more taste of happiness courtesy of Pepe in Grani.. .
